A hand drawn design of the Carnegie Library in the Oakland area of Pittsburgh, PA — created by Kirsten Lowe-Rebel.

As many a book lover can relate, Kirsten has found peace among the main library’s expansive stacks since high school. For the last several years, she has donated to the Friends of Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh Art Auction, and she was also commissioned to draw architectural elements of CLP Main’s historic structure for the organization’s brand new walking map. 2020 marked 130 years since the city of Pittsburgh accepted Andrew Carnegie’s million dollar grant to fund construction of the main library and six branches. The city’s reputable library and museum systems, marked by his name, represent the philanthropic legacy of a man who believed education should be accessible to all, hence the motto “Free to the People.”

Do you love our library, too? Whether you go for books, film, music or educational workshops, the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh is a pretty magical place. Bring a little magic into your space with a KLoRebel Art Carnegie Library Print!
