“Cathy,” the architectural landmark of Oakland, stands at 42 stories tall or 535 feet. Completed in 1934, University of Pittsburgh’s Cathedral of Learning is the fourth tallest educational building in the world—and the tallest in the Western Hemisphere! Anyone who enrolled, visited or worked at the University of Pittsburgh knows the limestone Gothic skyscraper to be remarkable inside and out.
